Butterfly Hope Luncheon

2025 Butterfly Hope Luncheon
Sept. 25, 2025 | 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. | The Cascades in Tyler
The 2025 Butterfly Hope Luncheon will feature keynote speaker Dr. “Patch” Adams!
The real Patch Adams, whose full name is Dr. Hunter Doherty “Patch” Adams, is an American physician, social activist, and clown best known for promoting the use of humor, joy, and compassion in healthcare. He became famous for his unconventional approach to medicine, including dressing as a clown to cheer up patients, and for founding the Gesundheit! Institute in the 1970s—a free community hospital project focused on holistic care that integrates traditional medicine with alternative therapies, art, and laughter.
His story gained widespread public attention after the 1998 film Patch Adams, starring Robin Williams, which was loosely based on his life. Adams is also known for his global humanitarian clowning trips and his advocacy for healthcare reform, emphasizing that healing should be about building human connection, not just treating disease.
Our annual Butterfly Hope Luncheon is the premier fundraising event of the year.
Each year, we host a distinguished keynote speaker whose life has been impacted by Alzheimer’s or other dementia.
Join us to learn more about how the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County is helping members of your community who live with Alzheimer’s or dementia and those who care for them.
